Seed collection from Moringa oleifera

Moringa olifera, also known as the Miracle Tree, is an extremely beneficial tree with numerous uses and health benefits. EDYM is working with United Methodist Committee on Relief to promote this species and its uses. EDYM is working with a group of citizens to raise Moringa seedlings to establish a co-operative Moringa farm.

Uses of Moringa:

Various parts of the tree, the leaves, seeds, and roots, can be used for nutritional and medicinal purposes such as:
  • Nutritional value- rich in protein, vitamins, and minerals
  • Water purification
  • Acts as a fever reducer, remedies diarrhea and dysentery, treats skin infections, stabilizes blood pressure, treats arthritis and anxiety, etc.
  • Moringa can as well be used as an effective Green Manure and Plant Growth Hormone
